Professor Luis E. Gomez-Quiroz, Ph.D.

Professor Gomez-Quiroz is a chemist and experimental biologist specializing in the study of liver and pancreas biology and pathobiology, particularly in cancer, signal transduction, redox regulation of gene expression, and oxidative stress. Dr. Gomez-Quiroz is a leading expert in cellular redox regulation by the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), its receptor c-Met, and its association with liver and pancreatic diseases. In addition, his research is focused on the impact of lipid overload in the liver and the consequences of primary hepatic disorders. He has recently been developing a new scientific line in GDF11 biology.
Doctor Gomez-Quiroz is a lecturer at Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana Iztapalapa (UAM-I), teaching Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Cancer Biology.
He is a principal investigator and Chief of the Laboratory of Experimental Medicine and Carcinogenesis, UAM-I. He is head of the graduate programs of the Biological Sciences and Health Division of the UAM-I.
